Skills sponsorship how and why?

The skills sponsorship that links Altran and Le Vaisseau is intended to support scientific culture mediation activities and enrich cultural programming by integrating new technologies. For Le Vaisseau, the objectives are to introduce audiences to intelligent machines, to offer the experience of the human-machine relationship and to question the notion of artificial intelligence. With this proposal, the Vaisseau is displayed as a place – a resource capable of guiding its audience in understanding an emerging technology. For its part, Altran is demonstrating its societal commitment in the service of scientific and technical culture.

In order to support the development of its cultural offering, the Vaisseau is opening up to partnerships to stimulate sponsorship actions and to diversify its sources of contributions. Altran’s skills sponsorship charter illustrates the company’s values and embodies its social responsibility. Skills sponsorship is Altran’s free engagement in the service of causes of general interest, long-term, in the form of a contribution of skills without seeking to have an impact on its business activities. Through these skills sponsorship, Altran offers its employees the opportunity to get involved in initiatives serving the general interest around four main themes:

  • The culture

  • Solidarity

  • Research and innovation

  • The environment

The skills sponsorship agreement between the Departmental Council of Bas-Rhin / Le Vaisseau and Altran covers an assistance service in supporting project management on the design and construction part of the man-machine interfaces.

Le Vaisseau: fostering dialogue between science / industry / society

Le Vaisseau is a cultural leisure center for children aged 3 to 12. It is a benchmark in terms of scientific culture for young audiences and their adult companions.
A place for the dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge, the Vaisseau has become a place of life that promotes intergenerational encounters, and the reception of the public “from the social field”. It promotes the learning of knowledge through an educational offer adapted to the age of the audiences by developing a pedagogy centered around play, investigation and interdisciplinarity. By manipulating, the child tries, tests, tries and starts again, without being marked or evaluated. This freedom promotes his creativity and development.

The audiences are made up of 67% individuals who, in families, groups of friends or “tribes”, find with the Vessel a place of knowledge promoting understanding of the world in which they live through the transmission of knowledge in a playful, creative and attractive setting.

In a world where science is perceived as a vector of progress (improvement of living conditions, accessibility to knowledge, development of skills, evolution of new scientific and industrial technologies, etc.), it is also perceived as elitist, arduous and a vector of fears.

With the Vaisseau, the Departmental Council of Bas-Rhin is voluntarily committed to ensuring that a mixed audience (social origins, boys / girls, etc.) have access to knowledge in an informal setting, which enhances living together while making it accessible the science / industry / society dialogue. Partnerships have been developed with the National Education, the University of Strasbourg, the National Center for Scientific Research, manufacturers, associations … These are all players who support the Vaisseau and contribute to its educational and cultural dynamism.
